Solar Panel installation on family home

It certainly won’t come as any surprise to hear that we recommend the installation of solar panels, it’s what we do, it’s what we are good at and we make a living off the back of it. Most importantly to us however, is that it is a service that we are proud to offer and firmly believe in.

Harvesting the Suns energy is nothing new, humans have been doing it for over 2500 years in one form or another, from using magnifying glasses in the 7th Century BC to start fires, to the Greeks and Romans using mirrors to light torches during religious ceremonies and the sunlight powered ovens used on long voyages in the late 1700s.

But, it was the emergence of the modern solar panel in 1954 that was the real clincher! Using silicon, a stable and reliable power source was developed that could capture a small amount of the suns energy and convert it into electricity. Since then, solar technology has come a long way, and the cost of solar panels has significantly decreased over the past few decades, putting it within reach of far more people.

So what are the benefits of installing Solar Panels (PV):

  • Obviously there is a reduced carbon footprint as you’re generating clean, renewable energy compared to fossil fuels. Yes, there is a carbon footprint to produce them but given their expected 40 year lifespan, this is negligible over the long term.
  • Solar energy is abundant and ticks all the boxes as being a renewable energy source. Unlike finite fossil fuels, solar power is a renewable resource that won’t run out for billions of years – allegedly.
  • Solar panels allow you to generate your own electricity, reducing your reliance on the grid. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills.
  • Homes with solar panels tend to have higher resale values. Buyers now appreciate the energy efficiency and potential cost savings associated with solar installations.
  • By producing your own electricity, you become less dependent on utility companies especially when coupled to battery storage. Geopolitical events have little effect on your household.
  • Excess electricity generated by your solar panels can be fed back into the grid, earning you credits or reducing your bills further.
  • Solar panels require minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning and occasional inspections are usually sufficient to keep them functioning optimally.

Remember that the effectiveness of solar panels depends on factors like location, shade, and system size.

If you’re considering installation, consult with us first. As specialists in the solar energy field we can provide appropriate advice and guidance specific to your situation. If you money to invest, give this serious consideration.
